The Biden-Harris Administration announced Darleane C. Hoffman and Gabor A. Somorjai as recipients of the 2023 Enrico Fermi Presidential Awardees.
Established in 1956, the Enrico Fermi Award is a Presidential award that recognizes groundbreaking achievements in science and technology. The award honors Enrico Fermi, the 1938 Physics Nobel Laureate, for his “identification of new radioactive elements produced by neutron bombardment and his discovery, made in connection with this work, of nuclear reactions effected by slow neutrons.”
