As a consortium of research universities, URA values education in science, technology, and engineering to expand the frontiers of knowledge. URA offers various opportunities to students and faculty of member universities to support innovative research and development.

Visiting Scholars Program

URA’s Visiting Scholars Program (VSP) was established in 2007 to support the work of faculty and students from URA institutions to work at Fermilab.

Graduate Thesis Award

URA and Fermilab annually present the URA outstanding doctoral thesis award for work conducted at Fermilab or in collaboration with Fermilab scientists.

Tollestrup Award for Postdoctoral Research

URA will make an award for outstanding work conducted by a postdoctoral research fellow at Fermilab or in collaboration with Fermilab scientists.

Visiting Scholar Profile

“The (Muon g-2) experiment is effectively measuring the magnetic strength of the muon. We needed to measure it at a higher precision and see what that difference is about and the best place to do that is at Fermilab.”
